I spent along time looking for this one. There are a lot of examples out there how to bind an ArrayList to a Datagrid or Listview but it took me a long time to find this little snippet of code.
I have a stored procedure in DotNetNuke that returns a list of items. What I wanted was to go through that list and make a decision on each row.
DotNetNuke uses an ArrayList to provide this information.
I however, haven't ever used an an ArrayList and I was having trouble getting the information I wanted out of it. I find this code snippet below that solved the problem.
The code is pretty self explanatory, but I will break it down for you.
"Response.Write" is simply saying print this out on the screen you will most likely use some sort of assignment statement here like x=whatever.
"CTYPE" is you converting the result of the statement to a certain data type. In this case our data type is going to be our "Project"Info class.
myList is simply a declare ArrayList.... Dim myList as new ArrayList
the (0) is the index value, so 0 corresponds to row 1 of the ArrayList.
The "," is apart of the CTYPE statement. We are now casting the type we want.
Company.DNN.Modules.ProjectName.Business.CategoriesInfo is simply the path to the ProjectInfo file that you created that accesses your database info.
PropertyValue is the name of the Property which you which to assign to the variable.
