So Annie came home today and told me that her car sounded funny. I went out and checked it out and the fan was running, which is weird for a day in January. I checked the tempature gauge and sure enough the car was running hot.... probably Van Halen, Panama hot, if you know what I mean  . Wow I didn't think I would ever be able to reference the song Panama in a blog entry... FTW!
Anyway, I added coolant think it was low, which it was, but that didn't do the trick. I am pretty sure that the car has a thermostat problem. Anyway, no problem, she can just drive my car, since I drive it about once a month anymore. Well, it had a bit of trouble starting, but it got going.
I then backed it up and it died. It had a bit of trouble starting but then it got going again. I drove it down the street a bit to check it out and about 8 houses down I decided I should stop and then hit the gas and see if it would die. Well, it did. Then it wouldn't start.
I don't mean, wouldn't start because it just turned and turned. I don't mean wouldn't start because it had a dead battery. I mean, I would turn the key the lights would come on fine, everything was working, but the starter just never even spun.
I tried some stuff, like putting the car in neutral, stomping on the gas, shaking the steering wheel, but none of that worked.
I walked home, got in the car that was over heating, drove it down to Old Red, my car, and hooked it up with jumper cables. I was thinking maybe that the extra boost would get it going. It still just did nothing.
I then along with Annie's helped push the car home. It was hard. But, we made it back. I tried pushing it up the driveway but it was too steep. So, I thought, I will try to start it one more time. It worked..... LAME.... started right up. I backed it in the driveway and I will deal with it later.
In the meantime, we are going to baby the car down to the shop and get a new thermostat put in. I could do it myself, but I don't want to mess with coolant going all over my garage, and it would, because I am a messy person.
I say all of this to get to the real point of this email which is that I am sure something good is going to happen out of all of this. I have been reading Tony Dungy's book, "Quiet Strength" and it has helped me realize that God has a plan for our life, and we might not get it, or really agree with it, but he has a plan and it is for our own good.
I have been really impressed with Tony after reading this book. If he can lead a Christian life while having a career in the NFL, surely, little old me can lead one, without shame, or worrying about what other people will think, and not stepping on toes, etc, etc, excuse, excuse, excuse....
Anyway, you should check the book out, and we will see what happens with the cars. I will report back.
